About Me

I'm Dr Patricia Garrison, an experienced veterinarian with 21 years of practicing veterinary medicine in Humboldt County and the former owner of Riverwalk Veterinary Hospital.  My mission is to help fill a need for in-home veterinary services  in our community.  I strive to provide personalized and compassionate veterinary care for your dog or cat in the familiar surroundings of their home.  Whether ensuring a healthy start or supporting you and your pet through tender farewells, I'm here to assist you.

Our Services

1

Euthanasia

When the time comes to say goodbye, we will come to your pet's comfort place whether that is at home or their favorite place to play to ensure a peaceful and dignified passing.  We encourage families to set up appointments a day or two ahead of time.  However, please contact us for availability if our services are needed sooner.  Please note our service area has some restrictions.

2

Palliative & Hospice Care

Palliative Care is comfort care and symptom management following the diagnosis of an incurable condition to ensure your pet is living their best life.  Hospice is end-of-life care aimed at making your pet's final days are as pain free and comfortable as possible.

3

Well-Pet Services

From yearly exams to exams for minor illness, we can provide these services in the security of your pet's home.  We offer basic vaccines, blood tests, and prescriptions for medications and preventatives also. Well-pet visits and minor illness appointments are offered on a limited basis.

Emergency Services

We do not offer daytime or after-hours emergency services due to our lack of a physical facility and equipment.  If your pet has been hit by a car, attacked by another animal, is having difficulty breathing, is not passing urine, has a bloated abdomen, has collapsed, is having a seizure that is not stopping, or is in active labor but not delivering a puppy (kitten),  please call emergency services immediately. If your pet is a patient of Humboldt  Veterinary Medical Group (Ferndale/Fortuna Vets) please call them at (707)786-4200.  If you are a client of another veterinary facility in Humboldt County please call your regular veterinary hospital during the day or the county wide after-hours number (707)672-6505  at night or on weekends and holidays and you will be directed to the veterinary hospital that is currently on-call.
